Waltonchain Invited to the 2018 China International Big Data Industry Expo in Guiyang
On May 26, the 3-day 2018 China International Big Data Industry Expo opened in Guiyang city, Guizhou province.
President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Expo, where he stated:
“Currently, the Internet, big data and artificial intelligence, which represent the new generation of information technology, change rapidly. They have a significant and far-reaching impact on the economic and social development, state management, public administration and people’s lives. To grasp the vital opportunity for big data development, to promote the sound development of the big data industry and to deal with data security, cyberspace management and other challenges, all countries need to strengthen international exchange and mutual understanding, deepen communication and cooperation.”
President Xi also pointed out: “China sets a high value on the development of big data. We adhere to the development concept of innovation, coordination, green technologies, openness and sharing. We focus on building a strong Internet power, digital China and smart society, fully implement the National Big Data Strategy and promote the shift of China’s economy from rapid growth to high-quality development. I hope all the representatives and distinguished guests here can have in-depth communication on the Expo’s theme of “Digitization of Everything, Intelligence for Integration” to jointly promote the innovative development of the big data industry, create a smart life together and join hands to build a community of shared future for mankind.”
The Expo included 1 summit, 8 high-end dialogs, 56 professional forums and a big data industry exhibition. It is sponsored by the PRC National Development and Reform Commission, the PRC Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Office of the People’s Government of Guizhou Province. Jointly sponsored by CCTV2 (China’s official financial TV channel), it attracted 388 domestic and foreign enterprise participants and more than 47,000 guests. The Big Data Expo is the greatest international and authoritative platform for the development of big data globally.
Waltonchain CTO Professor Wei Songjie and CSO Welson Wong were invited to the event, with leading technology companies from China and around the world. Corporate executives of Tencent, Alibaba, 360, Apple, Facebook, AMD, IBM, Qualcomm, Dell and other renowned enterprises joined the Expo Summit to discuss the future of the industry.
At the Summit on May 28, Professor Wei gave a keynote speech titled “Waltonchain: the Driving Force of Blockchain Innovation in the IoT Development”. He stated: “We have entered the IoT era with the development trends of interconnection, sharing and reliability. Data is the key to the future of information networks. Security, scalability, openness and availability are the data challenges in the information age. Blockchain’s distributed consensus, security through information encryption, self-organizing networks, value exchange and other innate data attributes have created opportunities for the development of the information age.”
At the Forum, Professor Wei provided a deep analysis of the parent chain and child chains, the cross-chain data transmission in the object, aggregation, information, interface and application layers within the Waltonchain Project system, as well as applications of the parent chain in various scenes for businesses in different industries. He elaborated why Waltonchain is the most efficient and thorough solution in the IoT field. At present, it has been applied in four fields, namely, luxury goods and clothes traceability, food traceability, logistics and collectibles authentication. In the future, Waltonchain will build a global underlying public chain based on the reliable blockchain + IoT technology.
CSO Welson Wong also took part in the recording of the CCTV’s high-end program “Dialogue” on the theme “Blockchain — the New Order of Value Interconnection”. During their in-depth dialog, the experts focused on the imagination space brought by the blockchain technology to the human society, and on the impact of blockchain on the global economic integration and the real economy. The father of the digital economy and author of The Blockchain Revolution, Don Tapscott said in the “Dialogue” that the blockchain marks a “Internet of Value” for humanity. “Now for the first time ever, we have an Internet of value that anything with value — from money, stocks and music — can be managed and communicated by peer-to-peer in a secured and private way,” said Don Tapscott. “The Internet of Value can bring prosperity, fairness and justice to society. That is why “Blockchain is the second era of the Internet.”
At the end of the “Dialogue”, Wang Zhiqin, Vice President of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), stated that for the newly emerged blockchain technology, a cautious and relaxed development environment should be given from the perspective of regulation. Whether it is the risk of cryptocurrency or the technology of blockchain, there will be a process of their simultaneous development. Therefore, the healthy development of the whole blockchain industry should be actively encouraged. In terms of specific regulatory measures, in view of the current difficulty in regulating the development of blockchain, a “supervision chain” which adopts technology means and blockchain should be established for regulation.
